Old Sturbridge Village

Category: Uncategorized — Ian C. @ 9:44 pm

After MINIs and ice cream last weekend, Margaret & I went to Old Sturbridge Village since we were in the area (see here for our previous visit in 2004) …

One interesting exhibit/demonstration was dyeing wool - some of the natural colors were pretty impressive (although the greens remind me of The Good Life!):

The kiln was also impressive and we were lucky to see it hot - they only fire pots a couple of times each year:

Visit the Gallery for more pics, or go back to 2004 for a previous trip.

I think I prefer Beamish Museum … maybe I’m more used to it, but Beamish is set nearer “now” and so has more technology (trains, the accounting system in the Co-Operative store, etc). On the other hand you don’t see real live cow milking, wool dyeing, etc in Beamish!
