Halibut Point State Park

This past weekend was wonderful hot weather (too hot it turned out!) and we decided to visit Halibut Point State Park, a nearby abandoned granite quarry in Rockport:

The quarry pit now is filled with water (rain run-off) and the surrounding area is open as a park beside the ocean - we walked down to the ocean and along the many granite rocks once discarded from the quarry and now forming a “beach”:

Elsewhere in the park are abandoned pieces of unfinished granite, probably discarded when a flaw was found in the rock:
